Why Support Viable Options?

Going beyond the political ideology and debate that so often influences the world of pregnancy, Viable Options is pioneering a new model of care within our community and culture which focuses on the value and dignity of the individual and brings an awareness of the needs that they face. Viable Options works to restore autonomy and decisional ownership to women and men facing a pregnancy decision by alleviating external pressures which often cause them to feel that they have no control over the outcome.

But it doesn’t end there. It is communities that change communities and hope for those facing a pregnancy decision lies your willingness to play an active role in becoming the answer to their needs.

Spread Awareness

Utilize your unique relationships within your workplace, your house of worship, your community, or your family to share with others about the work of Viable Options and to help connect us with those who most need our support.

Monthly Giving

Whether it’s $10$30$75 or $100 per month, you have an opportunity today to invest in the mission of Viable Options and to be part of bringing hope to those in our county facing a pregnancy decision.

Be the Answer

Each of our roles may look different, but we all have a role to play. Whether that is helping someone to make an appointment or coming with them to Viable Options, our involvement must reach further than the voting booth and must be lived outside of pews and political conventions. Hope is afforded to those facing a pregnancy decision when each person takes part in creating and sustaining a culture where their needs are fully met.

  • “What is Viable Options?”

    • Viable Options is a nonprofit organization that serves women and their partners facing a pregnancy decision—providing support, education, resources, and advocacy that empower a confident choice.
  • "What does Viable Options do?"

    • We work to restore ownership to each person we serve by identifying the most pressing needs, pressures, and obstacles in their lives and advocating on their behalf within the medical and social service communities in order to provide tangible solutions.
    • We also work to educate communities on the issues of unintended pregnancy and to equip the friends, family members, neighbors, and peers of those facing a pregnancy decision to take personal responsibility for meeting their long-term needs.
  • “Is Viable Options a medical facility?”

    • Viable Options offers education and advocacy—not medical services. But as part of our commitment to securing the best possible care for those we serve, we work closely with the professional medical community, referring clients to local OB/GYNs for all pregnancy-related medical needs.
  • “Is Viable Options an adoption agency?”

    • Viable Options is not an adoption agency. However, we offer ongoing advocacy and assistance to those who choose to place for adoption. We do not facilitate adoptions but help to ensure that the woman pursuing one retains ownership of the entire process and that her needs, desires, and concerns are heard and honored along the way.
  • “Is Viable Options a pro-life or pro-choice organization?”

    • No, Viable Options does not identify with either the pro-life or pro-choice movements.
    • Terms like “pro-life” and “pro-choice” describe a position on pregnancy outcomes, primarily expressed through political activity. Because Viable Options works in the decision process of an unintended pregnancy—not the outcome—we do not identify with any political camp or position. This allows us to focus solely on providing client-driven care, service, and advocacy pre decision.
    • Operating outside of the political arena gives us the freedom to focus our efforts on serving individuals—not legislative agendas—and to start a new conversation about the needs, pressures, and obstacles that cause many to feel a lack of ownership and confidence as they process their unintended pregnancies.
  • “What does Viable Options do when a client wants an abortion?”

    • Whether a client chooses to obtain an abortion, to parent, or to place for adoption, we refer them to practicing OB/GYNs at the local hospital and remain available for continued advocacy and assistance as needed.
    • No medical decision is made in isolation. There are many factors which may play a role in how any given course will impact a woman, such as her medical history, her mental and emotional health, and her current lifestyle. Viable Options encourages women to make all pregnancy-related medical decisions in consultation with a practicing OB/GYN, as they are best equipped to provide comprehensive care which accounts for the unique histories and needs of their patients.
  • “How much do the services of Viable Options cost?”

    • All of our services are provided free of cost.
  • “How is Viable Options funded?”

    • Viable Options is funded through the generous support of community members who are passionate about our mission and work.
  • “Is Viable Options a Christian organization?”

    • We are a Christian organization compelled by our faith to love and care for those in need—extending our services to all, regardless of race, gender, orientation, or religion.
  • “Is Viable Options affiliated with a church?”

    • Viable Options is not affiliated with any denomination or church/religious organization but operates independently—partnering with those of all backgrounds and beliefs to provide solutions for women and their partners facing a pregnancy decision.
  • “Is Viable Options part of a national franchise?”

    • Viable Options is not part of any national network, franchise, or group but was founded by individuals from the North Country as a response to needs they saw right here in our county. As such, it is uniquely positioned and equipped to serve the local community.
